Media Interests

"Run Baby Run" or "Corre Nicky Corre" in Spanish in the language I read this book is a testimony of an teenage boy who struggle with drugs, gangs, etc. I love this book it reminds me of my past, my childhood, who I am and mostly my dad and what we came to be.

I love "Degrassi", I like it because is more realistic than most teenage shows. It deals with real teenage problems not fantasies.

I like Mago de Oz because their not a very usual band they mix heavy metal, classic music, blues, jazz, and more. Not only that but they also sing about real life, problems, pleasure, politics, acceptance, equality, etc, their lyrics are poetic.

I like this Mexican novela because it's not only funny, sometimes unrealistic, romantic, and cool, but it also gets into your skin and you just can't stop watching or listening to their music.

I like Simone Elkeles books because her books create realistic worlds in which teenagers or even college students live. It deals with true emotions, psychological disorders, family, school, passion and more.

Firefly Genre, a Mystery?

Firefly to me; for what I've seen so far, is a bit of a strange show, I don't really understand what is going on so far, especially because we are skipping between episodes and they are a bit long. firefly has a lot of mixtures on its content and so is very very hard to find a genre for it. to say that firefly is just Science-Fiction is to broad. Of course is Science fiction because it involves futuristic settings and things that we do not have yet discovered or that they probably do not exist and never will be. Firefly is more than that, it is a combination of "Star Wars", "Star Trek", and even it seems to me like a little bit of "Cowboys vs. Aliens", it is just so mixed up and different, that is hard to find the right direction to point to. While reading the PDF "Captain Tightpants: Firefly and the Science Fiction Canon" it also reminded me a little bit of the "Lost" show. Even though I haven't gotten that far to tell yet, the PDF described how throughout the show you star seeing who the characters really are. You get to know their story, their past, and what makes them who they are. In the show "Lost" that's kind of how you get to know the characters isolated in an island, but in this case its a ship. So what genre does firefly belong to? To me is a mystery, and a mixture of many genres. If it was up to me I would put it under cultural, customs, and future and past science fiction, because it mixes all of this factors into one strange show.

Nerd-Burger Blog

Nerd Burger is an effective blogger in this video because she goes above and beyond to keep her audience interested on her video. She changes her tone of voice according to what she is trying to express to her audience. She does not only change her tone of voice but her body language as well. She talks with her hands, with her face and with pictures and animations of whatever she is talking about on her video. I took a look at her webpage and noticed that she always posts about what the meaning of each of her post is. She posts pictures of herself in very exotic and unusual outfits that you do not see everyday. She obviously does not care what others say or think about what she wears or the way she expresses herself. She uses her blogs to express herself and also to share her outfits, accessories, or products with others and with whomever might be interested on buying them.

I would like to apply some of the things that Nerd Burger does on her blog to mine. I would like to be able to maintain my blog so alive that people would be interested on it, and even if they are not so interested, that I can express myself in such freely and open way, without carrying what others might think or say in a negative way.

My expectations for this class blogs are:
1. To see other points of view in different topics.
2. To expand my knowledge on every aspect of the class
3. To get to know my classmates through their writing and their thoughts
